When photography was monochrome, colour simply added life to it. So, they literally did. I like this so called thing, hand-tinting, because it incorporates my love for photography and painting. Also because I'm not the best of both at it, so I'm on the fence with this one again.
Throughout visit to friends' or some old person's home, I never fail to see numerous of photos that are hand-tinted. It looks amazing, also that they had super flawless skin and the coolest clothes. The effect that it brings makes them look like very timeless (at least for me). I always knew I wanted to try it myself. Especially those photos that has complex background; painstakingly painting the details of the bush flower, for example.
Since there are enough photos in the internet of classic Hollywood beauties, I'll try practising using Adobe Photoshop. I can't afford to take actual photos, have them printed and paint them by hand with actual tint. This would be good for now.
I'm not good at it, but I'll learn it. I have been looking up it's history, techniques and all that-- also those who try to retrieve this cool art form. No one seems to pay much interest since no one uses monochromatic photos unless for dramatic portraits, anyway. If you're interested with this, let's learn together and maybe bring this back... I know, it's like a typewriter concept, but art is art.
